God’s Holy Spirit Revives Us: #6

I help out at a Pay It Forward shop at our church. Parents with new babies come in to find baby clothing at no cost. Sometimes we hold the babies while they shop. Oh the sweetness of a brand new soul given from God. This makes me think of a hymn about the sweet spirit of God. The song acknowledges the presence of the Holy Spirit and how it can make us look and feel. It also asks the sweet Holy Spirit to stay with us and fill us with God’s love so that we might lift our hearts in praise. God’s Spirit revives us!

Scripture:

Acts 13:52 And the disciples were continually filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.

Acts 15:8 And God, Who is acquainted with and understands the heart, bore witness to them, giving them the Holy Spirit as He also did to us;

Song: “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” Words and Music by Doris Akers, 1962

Verse: There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
And I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord;
There are sweet expressions on each face,
And I know they feel the presence of the Lord.

Chorus: Sweet Holy Spirit, Sweet heavenly Dove,
Stay right here with us, filling us with Your love.
And for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
Without a doubt we’ll know that we have been revived,
When we shall leave this place.
Verse: There are blessings you cannot receive
Till you know Him in His fullness and believe;
You’re the one to profit when you say,
“I am going to walk with Jesus all the way.”  Repeat Chorus

Verse: If you say He saved you from your sin,
Now you’re weak, you’re bound and cannot enter in,
You can make it right if you will yield,
You’ll enjoy the Holy Spirit that we feel. Repeat Chorus

About Bonita B. Evans

Since I was young I have felt God's presence in my life. I have been singing Christian music since I was a small child. Reading and studying the Bible have become more and more important in my life. In 2008, songs started coming into my head when reading, driving and also sleeping, so I decided to write them down and share them. For Christmas 2008, I recorded a ten song CD for my family and friends. For Advent 2009, I shared the first version of "A Flame in My Heart" with my church, family and friends. In 2011, I created and shared in this blog "40 Songs for 40 Days" for Lent. For Advent 2011 and 2012 I posted revised versions of "A Flame in My Heart". For Lent 2013 I reposted "40 Songs for 40 Days". I am not sure why this has all happened but I consider it to be a gift from God.
