A Knock on the Head

Yesterday while reading some passages in The Old Testament, I got a knock on the head or a sort of a wake up call from God’s word.

In Jeremiah 2:29-32 it speaks about God’s children thinking they can live independently of Him.

It states in The Message: “Young women don’t forget their jewelry, do they? …… But my people forget me. Day after day they never give me a thought.”

I realized that on many days, I too, never give Him a thought. How many things do I remember to do that are not absolutely necessary for my survival? Do I turn on the news or entertainment on TV? Get on the Internet for personal reasons? Go shopping for items I don’t need? Make phone calls or text others to communicate with them?

What about my communication with Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Is it first? Is it an afterthought? Does it happen at all?

I am an imperfect human being who does not always do things right, but I can always do better. Lord, I pray for help to do a better job at being your child!

In my series, 40 Songs for 40 Days – Day 16, I included a song called Never Alone FSFD016 For this post I would change the words to:

I’ll stay with you, Lord, stay with you, Lord.

When I leave worship, stay with you, Lord.

I’ll follow you, Lord. Follow you, Lord.

Throughout my whole life, follow you, Lord.

Be with you, Lord. Help me be with you, Lord.

Never forgetting to be with you, Lord.

Never alone, never alone, be with you Lord.

About Bonita B. Evans

Since I was young I have felt God's presence in my life. I have been singing Christian music since I was a small child. Reading and studying the Bible have become more and more important in my life. In 2008, songs started coming into my head when reading, driving and also sleeping, so I decided to write them down and share them. For Christmas 2008, I recorded a ten song CD for my family and friends. For Advent 2009, I shared the first version of "A Flame in My Heart" with my church, family and friends. In 2011, I created and shared in this blog "40 Songs for 40 Days" for Lent. For Advent 2011 and 2012 I posted revised versions of "A Flame in My Heart". For Lent 2013 I reposted "40 Songs for 40 Days". I am not sure why this has all happened but I consider it to be a gift from God.
