40 Songs for 40 Days By B. Evans © 2011
Psalm 33:1-5 says to sing joyfully to the lord, to praise Him, and to sing to Him a new song for his word is right and true, He is faithful in all He does, He loves righteousness and justice, and the earth is full of His unfailing love. Jesus Christ, Son of God, died for our sins. He gave all. What can we hope to give back? I wish to offer, with this song collection, a daily time of singing and reflection on God’s word for the 40 days of Lent or to remember the 40 days that Jesus was on earth after He rose from the dead until He ascended into heaven. I plan each day to listen to the song, read the related scripture passages, and then sing along with the song. Please join me! Whatever your use of this material, I pray that it is a blessing!
FSFD001 Song Title: The Lord Is – 2 Samuel 22:1-4 (If you do not have a Bible handy you can go to BibleGateway.com to read this passage.)
The Lord is my rock, and the Lord is my fortress. And He delivers me.
The Lord is my shield, and the Lord is my stronghold. From evil He saves me.
He is the Lord, who is worthy. I call on Him night and day.
He is the horn of salvation. He hears my cries and my praise.
The Lord is my rock, and the Lord is my fortress. And He delivers me.
The Lord is my shield, and the Lord is my stronghold. From evil He saves me.
His power saves me.
Lovely, Bonnie. I’m so thrilled that you were able to complete this in time for Lent. It will be a part of my devotions for the next 40 days. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
very nice Bonnie, will be here every day for the next 40, thanks you. I enjoyed the gift you gave me a year or two ago & will enjoy this one also. God is good.
Thank you for your beautiful adaptation of David’s song of praise. As we begin the season of Lent, it is a great reminder of how God is our constant protector. He is always there to save us from our troubles. I hope you had a nice Ash Wednesday service. Bealia spent most of our service touching my forehead and giving me a perplexing look as if to say, “Mommy, what do you have on your head?!”
David was a skilled musician who played his harp for Saul, instituted the music programs in the Temple, and wrote more of the book of Psalms than anyone else. Writing a song like this was not unusual for David. This royal hymn of thanksgiving is almost identical to Psalm 18.
